A fraternity is an organization of individuals bound together by friendship, aspirations, and shared goals. College campuses offer numerous fraternities focused on various aspects such as academic honor societies, specific academic majors, community service, religion, ethnicity, and social engagement, such as Kappa Sigma. Kappa Sigma's primary mission is to develop better men while encouraging participation in diverse campus organizations. Specifically, Kappa Sigma provides male students the opportunity to expand their social networks, enhance leadership skills, engage in academic pursuits, and contribute to community service.
Upon joining Kappa Sigma, your son will be introduced to a new social network, including student leaders, faculty, and alumni. He will start as a pledge, a term that signifies the period during which he evaluates Kappa Sigma. The pledging process is designed to integrate him into the fraternity without any form of degradation. At the end of this period, he will be given the choice to undergo initiation, a process focused on learning about the fraternity's founding and history, free from any hazing practices. His decision will be fully respected.
Membership in Kappa Sigma is considered a privilege. All members, whether pledges or initiates, undergraduates, or alumni, adhere to a strict Code of Conduct, which includes:
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct can result in disciplinary actions, including expulsion from the fraternity.
Kappa Sigma prides itself on the diversity of its alumni, who range from successful politicians and business leaders to renowned singer-songwriters and professional athletes. The fraternity values this diversity as it fosters dynamic group interactions and the development of strong, lifelong bonds among its members.
We welcome and encourage questions from parents to address any concerns or misconceptions. The best sources for information are the local campus and chapter leaders, including the Greek Affairs Advisor, the Alumnus Advisor, or the President of the undergraduate chapter. Additionally, the Kappa Sigma Headquarters is available to provide answers or direct you to the appropriate local officers.
