They were inspired by an ancient order that began in Bologna, Italy. A pivotal figure in the fraternity’s history is Stephen Alonzo Jackson, who joined the fraternity in 1872. Jackson is often referred to as the "Golden-Hearted Virginian" for his significant contributions, including the creation of the fraternity’s constitution, ritual, and expansion strategy. His leadership and vision helped transform Kappa Sigma into one of North America's largest and most prestigious collegiate fraternities, emphasizing fellowship, scholarship, leadership, and service.
The values of Kappa Sigma are centered around four key pillars: fellowship, leadership, scholarship, and service. Originally known as the Falcons Gentlemen Club, Kappa Sigma was brought to the University of North Texas and installed on November 9th, 1952, as Epsilon-Upsilon (EY), the 125th chapter. Members of the Epsilon-Upsilon Chapter have been involved in numerous student organizations, intramural sports, and leadership roles across the university while also consistently engaged in philanthropic activities, contributing thousands of hours to local and national causes. After our reinstatement in 2019, the Kappa Sigma Epsilon-Upsilon Chapter has continued to thrive and make significant contributions to the campus and community. We have expanded our philanthropic efforts, increased our membership, and taken on leadership roles in various student organizations. Our commitment to excellence and brotherhood has strengthened, making us a prominent and respected fraternity at UNT
